Description

Dr. Miriam Kienle, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Kentucky, will present her research related to the exhibition Pushing the Envelope: Mail Art From The Smithsonian's Archives of American Art. She will discuss how mail art (also called "correspondence art" and "postal art") become an international phenomenon in which participants reflexively used the mail to make art and share it with others. She will also address the process of curating this exhibition with her students and the value of using archives in the classroom.
